Process
1. Student completes the STAR test which determines their readability range.
2. That readability range, or ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development) score, reflects the levels of the books at which your child optimally reads and understands text
(ex. ZPD=1.2-2.5).
3. Student, with guidance from parent(s), chooses a book reflecting a level within the student's ZPD range.
4. Student reads the book a minimum of two times.
5. Student takes an Accelerated Reader (AR) quiz (in class only) on the book read and earns points according to how many questions were answered correctly.
6. Student continues this process (steps 3-5) until quarterly goal is met.
Rewards
As students meet their goals, they will be rewarded with a sweet treat during recess.
The AR Home Connect link is used to access information about a student's account like book level, goal, accuracy rate, etc
The AR Finder link is used to find information about a book.
